(update for July 2006)
Recent Work
Our involvement with Geest Foods has continued with installation of a new DAF system at their Holbeach site. The DAF plant, in combination with bringing back the existing biological treatment plant into service, has resulted in annual savings in the region of £240,000 for effluent that can now be discharged to watercourse.
We are also nearing completion of another DAF installation at Lyons Seafoods, where David Leeson (our MD) first "cut his teeth" on site back in 1986 during the original DAF plant installation.
A slight change in direction has seen us provide infrastructure works for De-Pack, contributing towards what is now the largest aerosol can recycling plant in Europe.
Leachate treatment installations continue on behalf of German specialist Wehrle, with sites nearing completion for Cleanaway and Biffa.
Interesting Technology
We have been involved at TMI Foods for a number of years, and it was recently reported in FoodChain magazine (April 2006), that investment in one of our effluent treatment and by-product recovery plants was now yielding net income; the income generated from waste fat/oil recovered and sold exceeded the trade effluent disposal costs - hence a viable business in its own right and a definite first for us.
Recommissioning and Hire Services
Often we are asked to look at existing plants which are not working, perhaps lacking tender love and care or short of some process knowledge that could effect a total transformation. We have recently finished putting a full biological treatment plant back on its feet at Hiams Foods, involving no more than some operational time, some of our hire equipment and a few key adjustments - a wise investment compared to the considerable cost of equipment upgrades.
New Premises
We are growing bigger and started 2006 in our new larger premises, which now combines our office facilities with warehousing space. This will enable us to preassemble manufactured components for ETPs and save time on our site installations which are now located all over the UK. We don't mind the travelling too much, but sometimes "there's no place like home".
Company Changes
We welcome Ian Povey aboard, helping us to meet requirements for full-time site supervision. Ian has previously worked part-time with us whilst completing his BSc Construction Management degree.
Give Us a Break !
In recognition of the major input provided by our key employees in the past year we decided to have a "day out" of their choice, which turned out to be driving some performance sports cars. This was brought on somewhat by seeing cars racing around a track just over the fence from our job at De-Pack. A few enquires later and we were all off to drive a range of tasty cars around the track, including a Ferrari 360 'nice but dodgy gear change', Noble M12 'ooh er!' and a Mercedes 55SL 'now that's the way to travel fast'. Commendations to Ian Povey who got best marks, and the rest of us for not crashing anything!
